Our take
I bought this single 5 lb dumbbell to supplement my set. The rubber coating feels nice, and the chrome handle is smooth but not too slippery. It’s decent for light curls or shoulder raises. However, it’s only 5 lbs, so it’s not for serious strength work. The star-lock collars included seem secure enough. For $12, it’s fine for a spare or for beginners. I just wish the rubber was a bit thicker—it feels thin on the edges. But overall, it does what it should at this price.
